I have a great new book Jean Desperes Jeweler, Maker and Designer of the Machine Age and it provided some good inspiration for the new collection. The pieces I really loved featured very thick faceted crystal over painted images... they got me thinking. I have used cut glass for years in photo pieces but I had not until now thought of using cut crystal as a focal point. There are a couple of very special new pieces in the new collection incorporating these beautiful crystals which are hand cut by Mr. Hong next door. I am really excited to see the photo pieces develop into something a bit different, which is as much about the pretty stone as what is captured underneath.
A few weeks ago I misplaced one of the crystals. Here is where I just found it while rearranging my books--stuck with a little bit of sticky wax in my butterfly book!
